Hello and welcome to Day 1 of self isolation. So far so good, I haven’t killed anyone yet 🙂
My certificate came through yesterday, so I started working from home yesterday afternoon. Today has been my first full day of self isolation. To be honest, it feels surreal, as I am still working, and in frequent contact with work colleagues via phone and Skype teleconferencing. So no real feelings of isolation…yet. I think because it is so busy at work (I did an 11 hour day, and I have been doing 50 hour weeks for the last few weeks) I haven’t really had a chance to feel “lonely”. But I have no doubt that will happen.
A couple of tricks I picked up whilst I was working from home earlier in the year:
- Have the radio on in the background so there is some sort of noise – I found out very quickly last time that silence contributed to the sense of loneliness
- When not at work, have plenty of things to do, if you just do one thing you get bored of it – to that end, I have my card making, family history research, books, jigsaws and puzzle books, and Foxtel Netflix and a huge DVD collection, so we’ll see how long I go before I get bored with them and am looking for something different
- Try not to go to the fridge or pantry TOO often (in other words no excess snacking 🙂 )
- Keep in touch with family and friends
I don’t have a lot planned for the weekend, but then again I don’t usually do much on the weekends, so the next two days should be fairly normal for me.
